A Basket Case....

A quick but satisfying project today.........

What started out like this.....

Went to this.....

Then with a final coat of paint to this.......

So much nicer I think!.....

Not sure exactly where it will live but an extra (white!) basket or 10 is always handy to have around.....

Right then, what next?!?.......

Just another week...

So another week flies past it seems. Not sure where it went really....

Baking....

Enjoying eating the baking.....

Bargain hunting....and scoring!....

Found this cute little white vase (? I'm using it as a vase anyway!) and this gorgeous glass vase (again ??) Not sure of the correct name for one of these?!? Although I don't really care what it's called, I just love it's shape and pretty colour.

There was actually 2 of them in the shop (that shop being good old vinnies) with the hugely expensive price tag of $2 on them. I hummed and hahhed over whether I really needed the 2 (yes. I know.) finally deciding I'd just take the 1.(I know!??!!!)
Yes, I will be going back there to purchase the other one if someone else (smarter, less stingy maybe??)  hasn't already snapped it up.

Speaking of smart...here's abit of what I'm reading at the moment......

Now let's not be snobby or judgemental with the whole reading thing I say. I do believe ANY form of reading is a good thing and am constantly trying to pass this on to my children. (see, that's why all the mags!?)
Some recent faves in our house being.....

And we're always up for suggestions of new books to try! Really!!...

My youngest (and constant companion!) had a short play session at school this week to prepare for prep (gulp) next year. She went skipping off....me, not so!....

Puddle paddling.....

Again, me not so.....they're suede for goodness sakes!!....

And this is what ends up on the dinner table mid-week when you don't check the meal plan.  Hhmmmmm......

So there, just another week here...

Happy weekend......

A master's bedroom!....

A few pics from my son's bedroom today...

The walls are currently painted in an off-white colour but I've been wanting to change that for awhile now. We (meaning I, who will be instructing Mr WF) also plan to build some shelves and a built-in desk either side of that window there.

Anyway, my son has asked for black walls with a giant red tractor painted on one wall....

Ummm, nup. I'm thinking a very soft but still boy-ish (?!?) grey. You can see the sample colour in the pic. Actually looks ok here against the white bed but it's really way too dark for his room so I'll be going back for a lighter shade.

Some of his fave things.....

No big wide shots of the whole room here because he is a typical 7yr old boy. Enough said?!!?

I love the combo of red, navy and white. Lets hope he does too for a few more years at least!!

And I love this clock. It was a total bargain (always more attractive!) and I think it will look great when hung against the soon-to-be grey wall. I'm also on the hunt for a larger, more 'vintagey' globe.

Ok, I'm off to put the finishing touches of paint on my kitchen shelves then it's time to start (nagging?) asking my husband very nicely and very often to please pop them up on the kitchen wall for me.

Happy Thursday!!....

Muesli Bars...

This is a recipe we bake and eat all the time. So so easy and kind of on the healthy side of things too?

I think everyone has their own version of muesli bars and this is ours. I can't really remember where I first found this, perhaps on the back of a packet of sugar or something?!? Anyway, the recipe in my (old, messy) recipe book is the original but I've changed it up abit to accomadate different (fussy, grrr..) tastes.

                                                                      Muesli Bars

1 Cup rolled oats
1/2 cup SR Flour, sifted
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup raw sugar
120g butter
1 tblspn honey OR golden syrup (kind of tastes like anzac biscuits if you use the g.s)

1. Combine the oats, flour, coconut and sugar in a bowl and mix it until they're combined.

2. Melt the butter in a saucepan then add the honey (or golden syrup) and stir together.

3. Pour the melted butter/honey into your bowl of dry ingredients and stir it all together.

 4. Tip it into a greased slice tin and squish it all down evenly.

5. Bake in a moderate (more on the slower side?) about 160-170degrees for 15-20 minutes.

6. Once it's cooked and out of the oven slice it into whatever size pieces you like, but do it while it's still hot.

7. Remove slices from pan when they're cold. And proceed to eat. From a pretty plate if possible.

You can (and we probably should but again, the fussy eaters!!) add some sultanas, chopped apricots or even nuts. Actually throw in whatever looks good really. They're great for after school treats or in their lunchboxes. (I welcome any easy, healthy, tasty lunchbox treats here anytime!) Lovely with a cup of tea too!

Enjoy...
